Hugh prides himself in providing clients with personal attention, be it a strategic overview of their business or their new business proposal, financial planning, succession planning or tax planning.
Hugh has practiced as a public accountant since 1985 helping individuals and businesses. His experience also includes commercial accounting and farming operations as well as taxation and the effective operation of partnerships, companies and trusts.
A major part of Hugh's role is advising family business owners in a confidant’s role. Hugh likes to take a long term view when working with clients to help them achieve their goals.
In 2016 Hugh stepped back from a principal’s role in public accounting to an associate status with Martel Wheatley. His goal is to devote more time to clients’ succession matters.
Hugh is keen to see that the outcome of an inter-generational transfer of the farm business of the retiring generation always has enough financial strength for them to make independent decisions in their retirement years.
